Trends & Reflections from Paris
This year, Casagrande Studio had the AMAZING opportunity to travel to Paris for the 2023 Paris Déco Off and Maison et Objet home shows. We experienced the shows through multiple lenses as our client, Elizabeth Shaw, joined us on our adventure as did our friend and fabulous wallpaper designer, Ellie Cashman.
We spent our days soaking up inspiration through new releases from some of our favorite fabric and wallpaper brands, as well through experiencing the sights of the city and spending time together in beautiful and inspiring spaces. We had so much fun and want to share our observations and highlights with you!
Trends
Through our immersion in the collections of eponymous brands Élitis, Pierre Frey, Nobilis, Rubelli, Arte, Dedar and many others, we observed overlapping themes, many of which have already made it back to our studio. Of course, we are already sharing them with our clients!
Metallics
Metallics were EVERYWHERE, as thread detail, as the primary color, as graphic accents. Ellie and Cecilia are so excited to collaborate to bring wallpaper with metallic accents to our shared clients.
Tapestry
Almost every brand was on point representing old tapestries. Arte, Pierre Frey, Nobilis, Dedar and others all had their interpretation. Here are some of our favorites:
Geometric
Geometric patterns are still very in vogue, but this season’s are very dramatic, often incorporating less than a few colors with a focus on symmetry.
Japanese Florals
Were a major theme on both wall-covering and textiles, both in modern and historical renditions.
Lampas
Lampas is a figured silk fabric whereby the figures are woven into the cloth vs. printed.
Fil Coupé or Lancé-Découpé
Fil Coupé is a rare technique whereby the reverse (weft) side of a woven jacquard is cut.
Beautiful Spaces
We visited and dined in amazing spaces, representing both the rich historical culture of Paris and modern interpretations of its current creators. We drew in inspiration from art deco spaces the Bouillon Julien and the recently re-opened La Samaritaine department store. We also lavished in the decadent Belle Époque at Le Train Bleu.

Highights
We were fortunate enough to be invited to amazing events thrown by Misia & Casamance, Studio 534, Rubelli, Christopher Farr, Pierre Frey, and others. What an incredible way to experience Paris and absorb the inventiveness of this season’s collections. It didn’t hurt that on many occasions our fashion was on trend with the colors of the season!
