Jamaica Plain

This Victorian home located in Jamaica Plain, was last renovated in the 1980s by its previous owners in a DIY project. The new owners hired us for a total gut renovation of the kitchen. The design brief was a dream kitchen rich in color while maintaining its functionality for the whole family.

The owners, a young family who wanted to redesign this small kitchen into a functional space for the whole family to enjoy. We were tasked with creating a family friendly kitchen, rich in color with a “wow” factor.

We started with a tropicana inspired hexagon tile for the kitchen floor, which then led to this fabulous and rich cabinet color that made our client’s heart sing! We chose wall tile from Fireclay that played off of the leaves from the floor tile, with a chocolate brown grout that made the tile design really pop.

The owners love to cook and bake, and wanted a space where the kids could easily join in. We were able to put in a small island to center the space and provide a place for the kids to help in the kitchen. The lights were the final finish to this kitchen, giving a South of the Border feel as they are handmade pottery pieces from Mexico.

The kitchen truly reflects the family's passions, hobbies and dreams.
